Goa University has selected their men's volleyball team for the West Zone Inter University Volleyball Championship for Men 2022-23, which is scheduled from December 10-14 at Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded.
The kit distribution and farewell function for the team was organised in the presence of Balachandra Jadar, Asst. Director of Physical Education and Sports, Goa University, along with Rama Dhawaskar, team coach, and Avelino Pereira, team manager.
The Goa team: Pratik Pravin Dhawaskar, Vishnuprasad Mahesh Shetty, Satyam Bharat Sawant, Prayag Vishwas Sawant, Tejas Pandurang Gauns, Vithalraj Appa Gawas, Swayam Munna Singh, Aayush Anant Gadekar, Akash Gurudas Gaude, Prasad Ramkrishna Gawas, Yesh Suryakant Chodankar, Prabal Vishwas Sawant.
Davorlim SC pip Rumdamol 1-0
MARGAO: Davorlim Sports Club defeated Rumdamol Sporting Club 1-0 in the Salcete Zone GFA Third Division League at Chandor Church ground on Thursday.
The match was goalless at halftime. Davorlim dominated the game but they could not translate their superiority into goals. At the other end, Rumdamol were at the receiving end throughout the game. The all-important goal was scored in the 85th minute when Adhars Yadav fired home from close range. Davorlim could not add to their tally due to poor marksmanship upfront.
UB Dando, St Anthony's in thrilling draw
MARGAO: United Boys of Dando Colva came from behind to hold St Anthony's Sports Club Colva 3-3 in the GFA Third Division League (Salcete Zone) at St John the Baptist, Dando ground, Benaulim on Thursday.
The match was a lively affair with both teams displaying attacking football. United Boys broke the deadlock in the 9th minute through Clyde Dias. Noor Siddique scored the second goal. In the 39th minute, Mallik Torgal reduced the deficit.
Crossing over, St Anthony's put up an improved display and Staffel Rodrigues neutralised the lead in the 56th minute. Sanil Pille made it 3-2 in the 67th minute. With time running out, Bevan Goes scored to make it 3-3.
