Government College Khandola emerge victorious

Govt. College of Arts, Science & Commerce in Khandola emerged victorious against the Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre in Assagao, securing the championship by a margin of 28 runs in the highly competitive and visually stunning finals of the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Cricket Men Championship, which took place at the Goa University ground.

Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Khandola won the toss and elected to Bat first.

In the first inning, Government College Khandola scored a total of 143 runs while losing 8 wickets over the course of 20 overs. The top performers with the bat were Rishab Phadte, who scored 35 runs off 24 balls, and Paarth Kossambe, who contributed 31 runs from 27 balls.

On the bowling side for DMC College, Vardhan Misquin claimed 2 wickets for 24 runs, while Rohan Zantye also took 2 wickets, conceding 28 runs.

In the second innings, chasing the target of 144 runs to win, Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College could only manage a total of 115 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 18.5 overs falling short with 28 runs. Yash Gad was the top scorer with 37 runs off 38 balls, while Aman Dhooper contributed with 20 runs from just 9 balls.

On the bowling side for Government College Khandola, Snehith Panicker excelled by taking 3 wickets for 25 runs. Additionally, Tanish Kadekar, Narendra Tari, and Nischay Naik each claimed 2 wickets.

Best Player of the championship was also awarded to Snehith Panicker from Government College Khandola for being the most valuable player of the tournament by scoring 83 runs at average of 41.50 and strike rate of 162.75 and also taking total 11 wickets at an economy of 4.72 and bowling average of 6.36.

The valedictory ceremony was honored by the presence of Chief Guest, Senior Professor Ganesha Somayaji from D.D. Kosambi School of Social Sciences & Behavioural Studies and also chairman of Board of studies of Physical Education. The event also featured Guest of Honor Prof. Dr. Purnakala Samant, Principal of Government College Khandola along with Balachandra B. Jadar, Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sports at Goa University. Together, they presented medals and trophies to the finalists.
