International Master (IM) Audi Ameya finished joint-first at the inaugural Kingdom of Chess International Open FIDE Rated Chess Tournament 2024, held in Udaipur, Rajasthan.
The event, organized by the Kingdom of Chess, saw a competitive field with 334 participants, including 27 titled players. Ameya scored an impressive 7.5 points out of 9 rounds, securing victories against Swara Deepak Phasge (Rajasthan), Pragadesh P (Tamil Nadu), Aaradhya Jain (Gujarat), Vidit Sethi (Uttar Pradesh), Sanyam Shrivastava (Uttar Pradesh), Majumdar Shrayan (Maharashtra), and Vedant R Varasvada (Gujarat). He also drew against Kavin Vijayakumar (Tamil Nadu).
Despite tying for the top spot with seven other players, Ameya placed fourth after the tiebreak system was applied. The top three positions were claimed by IM Mayank Chakraborty (Assam), Subhyan Kundu (Railways), and Mehta Naitik R (Gujarat).
