The Late Manohar Sawkar Goa State TT Championships 2024 concluded with exceptional performances as top table tennis talents from across the state battled for supremacy. The tournament crowned Ishita Colaso, Urvi Surlakar, and Chandan Caro as standout champions, with Ishita clinching a triple crown, Urvi securing a double crown, and Chandan dominating the Boys' categories with two titles. The tournament, organised by North District Table Tennis Association in aegis with Goa TT Association and the Sports Authority of Goa, concluded on Saturday at Peddem.
Ishita Colaso reaffirmed her talents, winning the Girls U13, U15, and U17 finals, showcasing her versatility and skill across age groups. In the Women’s category, Urvi Surlakar emerged victorious, also claiming the Girls U19 title to secure a commendable double crown. Among the boys, Chandan Caro impressed with a double crown, triumphing in the Boys U13 and U15 categories.
The finals were packed with intense action. In the Boys U11 category, Yug Prabhu edged past Ishaan Colaso in a thrilling five-set encounter (9-11, 11-5, 10-12, 11-6, 11-5). Sachi Desai claimed the Girls U11 title with a commanding 3-0 victory over Tisha Shaikh (11-9, 11-7, 11-5). The Boys U13 final saw Chandan Caro defeat Ruhaan Shaikh in straight sets (11-2, 11-3, 11-6), while Ishita Colaso dominated the Girls U13 final with a 3-0 win against Aarna Lotlikar (11-2, 11-4, 11-5).
In the Boys U15 final, Chandan Caro prevailed over Rishan Shaikh 3-1 (11-4, 9-11, 11-9, 11-9), while Ishita Colaso overcame a tough challenge from Neeza Kamat in the Girls U15 final, winning 3-2 (13-15, 11-9, 11-8, 9-11, 11-3). The Boys U17 final saw Rishan Shaikh upset Chandan Caro 3-0 (11-6, 11-3, 11-8), while Ishita Colaso triumphed over Pradnya Caro in the Girls U17 final, securing a hard-fought 3-2 victory (11-7, 5-11, 11-8, 5-11, 11-7).
In the Boys U19 category, Aaron Farias defeated Chandan Caro in an intense 3-1 battle (11-9, 11-8, 8-11, 15-13), and in the Girls U19 final, Urvi Surlakar beat Ishita Colaso 3-1 (8-11, 13-11, 14-12, 12-10). The Men's final saw Arvind Kumar claim victory over top seed Aaron Farias with a scintillating 4-2 win (11-8, 6-11, 11-13, 11-5, 11-7, 11-7), while in the Women's final, Urvi Surlakar secured her second title by defeating Ishita Colaso 3-1 (11-9, 11-9, 8-11, 11-7).
