Loyola HS scrape into last-four stage in both categories

Loyola High School, Margao, kept their hopes alive in both the Under-12 and Under-14 Boys categories at the 5th All Goa Interschool Sir Jawaharlal Da Costa Football Tournament, organized by United Sports Club of Seraulim and played at the Seraulim Panchayat Ground.

Loyola HS, Margao held their nerve against Manovikas H.S, winning 3-2 in the shootout after a 1-1 draw in regulation. Jasal Fernandes had put Manovikas ahead before Shay Fernandes equalized for Loyola in the dying moments.

Loyola HS, Margao clinched another penalty win in the U-14 category by beating Regina Martyrum H.S, Assolna 5-4 after a goalless regulation time, proving to be the better side in the shootout.

In the other results of the U-12 Boys category quarterfinals, Marina English HS Verna edged past Infant Jesus HS Colva 5-4 in a tense penalty shootout after a goalless draw in regulation time. Saviour of the World HS, Loutolim defeated St. Jude H.S Betalbatim 1-0, courtesy of an unfortunate own goal by a Betalbatim player. The Kings School cruised past St. Britto’s, Mapusa with a 2-0 win, as Joshua D’Costa netted both goals for a commanding brace. In another penalty thriller, Saviour of the World H.S overcame Mae Dos Pobres H.S 3-2 after a goalless draw.

In the other results of the U-14 Boys Category, Saviour of the World, Loutolim edged out St. Xavier’s H.S, Velim 9-8 in a thrilling shootout after a 3-3 deadlock. Ashwin Miranda scored a brace and Stallo Fernandes added another for Loutolim, while Casroy Fernandes (brace) and Swedon Simoes scored for Velim. Perpetual Succour HS secured a 2-0 win over Manovikas HS, with goals from Aryan Nevagi and Anosh Vaz. The Kings School emerged victorious in a nail-biting 4-3 penalty shootout against St. Britto’s, Mapusa.

In the U-14 Girls Category, The Kings School put on a dominant display, thrashing St. Jude’s H.S, Betalbatim 5-0. Karen D’Souza scored a brilliant hat-trick, while Analee D’Costa contributed a brace. St. Anne’s Institute, Agonda secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Perpetual Succour Convent, Navelim, with Gwyneth Fernandes scoring the decisive goal.
