MARGAO: Majorda Veterans triumphed over Cavelossim Veterans with a 2-1 victory in the S. Mini Mart Seraulim Veterans Football Cup, organized by the United Sports Club of Seraulim, at the church ground on Thursday.
Majorda broke the deadlock in the 30th minute when Remy Barreto delivered a defense-splitting pass to Ronny Fernandes, who skillfully placed the ball past the advancing goalkeeper.
However, Cavelossim responded quickly, equalising just a minute later through James Barreto, who intercepted a high ball and slotted it home.
Majorda regained the lead when Remy Fernandes, after receiving a pass from Michael Barreto on the right flank, unleashed a powerful shot that slipped through the goalkeeper's fingers and into the net.
Charles Rodrigues unleashed a powerful shot aimed at the far corner, but Majorda's goalkeeper Sultan Fernandes made a spectacular save, preserving the win for his team.
