MES Vasant Joshi College of Arts & Commerce, Zuarinagar and Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi, emerging victorious on Day 5 of the Goa University Inter Collegiate Cricket Women's Championship 2024-25.
In the first match of the day, MES Vasant Joshi College of Arts & Commerce, Zuarinagar, secured a convincing 52-run victory over Vidya Prabodhini College of Commerce, Education, Computer and Management, Porvorim.
MES College won the toss and elected to bat first, posting a total of 83 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 10 overs. Key contributions came from Aradhana Saroj, who scored a quickfire 21 off 16 balls, and Pooja Yadav, who added 19 off 22 deliveries. For Vidya Prabodhini College, Diya Sawant (1/14) and Ruchi Kumbhar (1/18) managed to pick up a wicket each.
In response, Vidya Prabodhini College struggled to build partnerships and were eventually restricted to just 31 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 10 overs. Ruchi Kumbhar (6 off 7) and Riya Folkar (5 off 7) were the only batters to reach single-digit scores. M.E.S. College's bowling attack proved too strong, spearheaded by an outstanding performance from Aradhana Saroj, who bagged 4 wickets for a mere 6 runs, and Deepali Pal, who supported her with 3 wickets for 8 runs.
Aradhana Saroj of MES College was the standout performer of the match, contributing 21 runs with the bat and taking 4 crucial wickets.
The second match saw Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi, register a comfortable 7-wicket win against VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, Margao.
Shree Damodar College won the toss and chose to bat first, managing to score 67 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in their 10 overs. Palak Arondekar led the scoring with a well-played 33 off 27 balls, while Tamanna Shaikh contributed 15 off 18 deliveries. Ivneet Kaur was the lone wicket-taker for Goa College of Engineering, finishing with figures of 1/13.
Chasing a modest target, Goa College of Engineering reached the required score in just 9.1 overs, losing 3 wickets along the way. Vaishnavi Phadke anchored the innings with a steady 25 off 27 balls, and Vaidehi Dabolkar provided valuable support with 18 off 18. For Shree Damodar College, Eshwari Borkar (1/8) and Tamanna Shaikh (1/18) picked up a wicket each.
