Priority Titans and Prescon Panthers made a superb start to their respective campaigns in the 4th edition of Panjim Gymkhana Members League (PGML 4.0) at Panjim Gymkhana ground here on Saturday.
Priority Titans scored a comfortable 24-run victory over defending champions Manas Mavericks in the inaugural match of the season. Later in the day, Prescon Panthers registered a dominant 7-wicket win against Desserts N’More Avengers.
Priority Titans put on a confident display right from the start, after being put into bat. Sachin Sardessai (37) and Vedant Naik (35) looked in great touch. Ojas (27), Sameer Chodankar (24) and all-rounder Mukhtar Kadri (16) also contributed with the bat as Priority Titans posted a total of 174/7.
Manas Mavericks were restricted to 150/9 in reply with rival captain Kadri making crucial impact with the ball with his spell of 2/23, bringing him the Man of the Match award. Gourav Desai played beautifully for his 20-ball 38 for Manas Mavericks.
In the second match, Desserts N’More Avengers were shot out for 88 runs in 16.1 overs after electing to bat first. Sairaj Dhond was their top run-getter with 30 from 20 balls. Pranav Biche made 23 runs.
Prescon Panthers’ Aditya Angle first bowled with great success picking 4/14 and later scored 17 with the bat, to earn the Man of the Match prize and special cash award for picking four wickets. Vivek Karapurkar was unbeaten on 33 while Manish Kakode was not out on 14 with Prescon Panthers cruising home 89/3 in 14.1 overs..
Earlier, the PGML 4.0 was declared open by Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy Shripad Naik in the presence of Panjim Gymkhana President Manoj Caculo, team owners and sponsors among others.
