Parish Youth Nuvem delivered an impressive 4-0 victory over United Club of Utorda in the opening match of the 1st Fernando Abranches Memorial Tournament, held at Verna Panchayat Ground on Sunday. Nuvem quickly took control of the game, with Alvito Dias scoring a brace and Meislein Barretto and Francis Colacao adding a goal each to extend the lead to 4-0 by halftime. Alvito Dias was named the Star of the Match for his outstanding performance.
Archery team for sub-jr nationals in Jaipur
A talented group of young archers from Goa has been selected to represent the State in the 41st NTPC Sub-Junior National Archery Championship, which will take place in Jaipur. The boys' team includes Shrey Naik, Nitesh Kumar, Vivaan Verekar, and Sankalp Parab, while the girls' team is made up of Avni Daboskar, Keertana Renjith, Ritika K, and Laxmi Kerkar. The team will be guided by coaches Deviprasad Kamath and Rudrali Gaude, with Amol Verekar serving as the manager.
South district athletic meet on Jan 11-12 at Bambolim
The South Goa District Athletics Association will organise the South Goa District Athletic Meet on January 11 and 12, at Athletic Stadium, Bambolim. The meet will also serve as a selection event for athletes to participate in National Inter District Athletic Meet. More than 600 athletes from South Goa are expected to participate in the competition featuring 145 events across various age categories, including U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16, U-18, U-20, as well as Men’s and Women’s sections. The competition is exclusively for athletes from the South Goa district, organisers said. Entry fees vary depending on the category, with the following charges: U-8: Rs 50, U-10: Rs 50, U-12: Rs 100, U-14: Rs 100, U-16: Rs 150, U-18: Rs 150, U-20: Rs 200, Men & Women: Rs 200. Athletes are required to submit their entries on or before January 8.
