MARGAO: St. Anthony Assolda FC triumphed over SC Davorlim in a thrilling tie-breaker, winning 5-4 to secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the 32nd Curtorim Panchayat Cup organized by Curtorim Gymkhana.
Assolda started strongly, taking the lead in the 15th minute with a powerful long-range strike from Succor. They doubled their advantage with a brilliant finish from Alreach Peixoto, ending the first half 2-0.
In the second half, Davorlim began to pressure the Assolda defense, and Prince Figueiredo found the net with a deft shot in the bottom corner, making it 2-1. Figueiredo equalized shortly after, bringing the score to 2-2. Assolda responded with a powerful header from Akram Yadwad in the 50th minute to regain the lead at 3-2.
However, Figueiredo completed his hat trick just before the end, leveling the score at 3-3. In the ensuing tie-breaker, Assolda emerged victorious, converting all five penalties, while Davorlim managed four. Assolda’s clinical finishing proved decisive in this intense matchup.
Rosy Paes Panch of VP Curtorim have away the man of the match award to Akram Yadwad of St Anthony FC Assolda.
