MARGAO: Ucassaim Sports Club secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over St Sebastian Sports Club Mapusa in the GFA Third Division League at Moira ground on Thursday.
Jeniton D'silva, Cyprian Rodrigues, and Vishwanath Kavlekar each scored for Ucassaim, while Prashant Govekar and Akash Parwar netted for St Sebastian.
Ucassaim dominated the midfield from the start, with Jeniton D'silva breaking the deadlock in the 12th minute with a strike from the edge of the box. Cyprain Rodrigues doubled the lead in the 37th minute, converting a cross from Jeniton D'silva to give Ucassaim a comfortable advantage at halftime.
St Sebastian came out strong in the second half, eager to score. They were awarded a penalty after Ucassaim’s Abbusaliya Hawaldar fouled St Sebastian’s Anthony Viegas in the box, but Charnel Fernandes missed the opportunity, hitting the woodwork.
Ucassaim extended their lead in the 79th minute when Vishwanath Kavlekar fired in a goal from a Swapnil Haldankar pass. St Sebastian, however, didn’t give up. In the final minutes, Avez Choudhari’s long-range effort was saved, but Prashant Govekar pounced on the rebound to score. Shortly after, Akash Parwar dribbled past the Ucassaim defense to net another, reducing the deficit to one.
