PANAJI: Verem United SCC secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over El Shaddai SCC in the GFA Third Division League at Moira Ground on Friday. Yallappa S and Riyaz Bapu were the heroes for Verem, each finding the back of the net, while El Shaddai’s Mohan Chawan managed to pull one back for his side.
Verem United struck early in the match, with Yallappa S giving his team the lead in just the third minute. El Shaddai, undeterred by the early setback, ramped up the pressure in search of an equalizer. Their persistence was rewarded just before halftime, as Mohan Chawan calmly slotted the ball home in the 42nd minute to level the score.
The second half saw Verem United pushing forward with renewed determination, relentlessly attacking the El Shaddai goal. Their perseverance finally paid off in dramatic fashion, as Riyaz Bapu found the decisive goal in the 90th minute, clinching a narrow 2-1 victory for Verem United.
