Host Betalbatim Sporting Club secured their place in the semifinals of the 7th Martin's Cup Football Tournament, organized by Betalbatim Sporting Club and held at the Panchayat Ground, Betalbatim, after defeating SCC Loutolim 4-2 via a penalty shootout on Friday.
The match began at a fast pace, with both teams creating several chances. Betalbatim took the lead in the 15th minute through Dylan Rodrigues, but SCC Loutolim equalized in the 30th minute with a goal from Ignatius D'Silva, and the score remained 1-1 at halftime.
The second half saw both teams miss several opportunities, and the score remained tied at 1-1 by the end of regulation time, leading to a penalty shootout to determine the winner.
In the penalty shootout, Betalbatim converted through Dickson Rogtao, Keith Fernandes, and Gladson Braganza, while Aniston D'Silva was the only player to score for SCC Loutolim.
Betalbatim's goalkeeper, Million D'Souza, was named Man of the Match by Eduardo Martin, in the presence of Bonny Pereira, the club president.
