BPS Sports Club in Margao inaugurated its state-of-the-art dual Pickleball courts on Saturday, aimed at providing a high-quality experience for both beginners and experienced players. The ceremony was attended by Eng. Earnesto Moniz, senior member of the club, and Yogiraj Kamat, President of BPS Sports Club, along with other distinguished members including Mangirish Kunde and Treasurer Sunit Pinto.
Eng. Moniz congratulated BPS Sports Club for being the first in Goa to construct Pickleball courts and wished the club success in fostering sports enthusiasm within the community. Yogiraj Kamat, in his address, shared the club's commitment to providing diverse opportunities for growth and development. “The addition of Pickleball courts reflects our dedication to offering a well-rounded education beyond academics, inspiring students to explore new sports and lead active, healthy lifestyles,” he said.
The event also featured Praveen Shenoy, Secretary of the Goa Badminton Association and Executive Member of the India Pickleball Association, who praised the club for its initiative. He highlighted the rapid rise of Pickleball in India, with over 18,000 players, and encouraged BPS to host a major ranking All-India Pickleball event. Shenoy also announced that the club would host the "BPS Open" from January 3 to January 5, 2025, marking Goa’s first major ranking Pickleball championship.
Pickleball, recognized as the world’s fastest-growing sport, promises to bring new excitement to the region’s sports community, and BPS Sports Club is poised to play a pivotal role in its growth in Goa.
