Calangute Association secured a solid 2-0 victory over FC Goa in the Goa Professional League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Saturday.

After a scoreless first half, Calangute broke the deadlock through Aman Govekar, who coolly slotted home a low shot into the bottom corner. Deeshank then doubled the lead with a powerful strike following a well-timed pass from Pandurang Gauns, ensuring all three points.

Looking to bounce back after their defeat to Cortalim Villagers, Calangute coach Marcelino shuffled his lineup, introducing four changes. Aman Sawant slotted in at right-back, Deeshank Kunkalikar took over the left-back role, while Akash Sanadi anchored the midfield, and Aman Govekar led the front line as the striker. FC Goa’s coach Israil made only two adjustments, with Davis Fernandes bolstering the midfield and Mallikjan Kalegar reinforcing the backline.

The first real chance of the game fell to Calangute in the 20th minute when Aman Govekar unleashed a low drive that whizzed just past the post. FC Goa responded with a dangerous free-kick from Malsawmtluanga, who whipped the ball into the box toward Balkaran Singh, but the forward's header was just out of reach.

In the second half, FC Goa upped their tempo and looked sharper in midfield. Davis Fernandes whipped in a threatening cross for Abawiha, whose header seemed destined for the net until Calangute defender Melvin Lobo intervened with a critical clearance.

The breakthrough came in the 56th minute when Govekar pounced on a loose clearance and fired a composed finish into the bottom left corner. Calangute nearly added another moments later as Edwin Viegas sent a header over the bar, but they made no mistake soon after, with Deeshank smashing home a second following a clever pass from Gauns.
