Candolim Sport Club staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Arlem Youth Association by 4-2 in a thrilling encounter of the 25th All Goa Our Lady of Merces 8-a-side Inter Village Football Tournament, organized by Sirlim Sports Club, at Chinchinim Church ground.
Arlem started the game on the front foot, with Sweeden Gauncar’s shot hitting the post in just the fourth minute. However, Candolim gradually took control of the game, creating numerous opportunities but failing to find the net. The first half ended goalless despite the intense action.
The second half exploded into life. Rajat Chopdekar put Candolim ahead early on, but Arlem responded swiftly through Achilles Fernandes. Sidney Gauncar then gave Arlem the lead with a brilliant free-kick. Undeterred, Candolim fought back with Aman Govekar scoring twice to turn the game around. Rajat Chopdekar completed the scoring with his second goal.
