MARGAO: Curtorim Gymkhana made a remarkable comeback to clinch their place in the finals of the 23rd Fr Basilio Andrade Tournament, defeating St. Sebastian Youth Murida 4-2 in a thrilling penalty shootout at Musson ground, Majorda.
Murida started strong, taking an early lead through Hanslum, who first assisted Edgar before scoring with a composed finish in the Curtorim box. Soon after, Hanslum struck again, doubling the lead with a left-footed shot following an impressive build-up with Elroy Barreto. With Murida in control, it seemed they might secure a straightforward victory. However, Curtorim's determination shone through as they fought back, with Freddy Hilario heading in from a corner that Murida failed to clear, narrowing the deficit.
As the match approached its conclusion, Veron Fernandes brought the scores level with a stunning half-volley from outside the box, sending the game to penalties.
