Dempo Charities Trust’s Srinivassa Sinai Dempo College of Commerce & Economics, Cujira and P.E.S’s Rajaram & Tarabai Bandekar College of Pharmacy, Farmagudi secured wins on Day 12 of the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Cricket Men's Championship 2024-25.
In the first match, Dempo College overpowered Salgaocar College of Law. V.M. Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar, won the toss and elected to field. S.S. Dempo College, Cujira, posted a strong total of 149/6 in their 20 overs, led by a brilliant 69 off 53 balls from Mihir Gawde. Prashant Patil contributed 14 runs. Mylen D’Souza took 3 wickets for 26 runs for Salgaocar College.
In response, V.M. Salgaocar College of Law was restricted to 103/9 in their 20 overs. Nikhil Ganpule scored 30, and Satyam Ghogale added 14. Abhinandan Thakur shone with the ball, taking 4 wickets for 13 runs, while Mihir Gawde also contributed with 2 wickets for 28 runs.
Mihir Gawde was named the player of the match for his outstanding all-round performance, scoring 69 runs and taking 2 wickets.
In the second match, PES Pharmacy edged out Govt. College Sanquelim. Govt. College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Sanquelim, won the toss and elected to bat first. They posted 120/9 in their 20 overs, with Atharva Surlakar scoring 43 and Saish Raut adding 23. Aniruddh Naik impressed with the ball, taking 4 wickets for 13 runs, and Nikhil Shinde took 2 wickets for 21 runs.
P.E.S. College of Pharmacy chased down the target in 19.2 overs, scoring 121/7. Nikhil Shinde scored a crucial 30 off 22 balls, and Anirudh Naik contributed 16. Madar Desai took 2 wickets for 18 runs for Sanquelim.
Nikhil Shinde was awarded the player of the match for his all-round contribution, scoring 30 runs and taking 2 wickets.
