Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda won the Men’s and Don Bosco College, Panjim won the Women’s Basketball Championship 2024-25, organized by Goa University at Manohar Parrikar Indore Stadium, Navelim, held recently.
In the well-contested Men’s championship final, Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda defeated St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, with a final score of 85-64.
In the Women’s championship final, Don Bosco College, Panjim defeated St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, with a margin of 51-41.
Earlier, in the semifinals of the Women’s Section, Don Bosco College, Panjim defeated PCCE, Verna, with a score of 36-0, and St. Xavier’s College defeated S. S. Dempo College, Cujira, with a score of 23-19.
In the Men’s semifinals, Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda defeated S. S. Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Cujira, with a score of 47-31, and St. Xavier’s College defeated Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi, with a score of 55-30.
The Best Player in the Men’s category was awarded to Tanish Lotlicar of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, and the Best Player in the Women’s category was awarded to Sarah Hussain of Don Bosco College, Panjim.
The presentation ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Spencer Viegas, a lawyer by profession and former national basketball player, along with Guest of Honor Dr. Manoj Hede, College Director of Physical Education & Sports, Kare College of Law, and Dr. Michael Dias, College Director of Physical Education and Sports, S. S. Dempo College, Cujira. Balachandra B. Jadar, Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sports, Goa University, also presented medals and trophies to the winners and runners-up.
