Fr Agnelo YSC Paroda secured their spot in the final with a 3-0 victory over Mandopa Sports Club in a thrilling semifinal match of the Simon Barreto Memorial inter-village football tournament, organized by Maina Sports Club, at the DYSA ground, Curtorim, on Thursday.
Fr. Agnelo YSC Paroda delivered an exciting performance, maintaining end-to-end action throughout the contest. Mandopa Sports Club, while composed and utilizing short passes to penetrate the opposing defense, found themselves trailing after Regan Costa scored a powerful header in the 14th minute, giving Fr. Agnelo a 1-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Mandopa's Rohan Pereira, Ronaldo Pereira, and Meliston Dias played key roles in keeping their team in the game. However, Fr Agnelo YSC Paroda extended their lead with two quick goals from Kanchan Kiro and Bradley Carvalho in the 52nd and 55th minutes, respectively, sealing Mandopa's fate and securing their place in the final.
Meliston Dias of Mandopa Sports Club was named Man of the Match, an award presented by Neelam Korgaonkar.
