Goa Engineering College, Farmagudi and Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Khandola secured wins on the third day of the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Cricket Women's Championship 2024-25.
In the first match of the day, Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi, secured a commanding 55-run victory over Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts & Science, Margao. Goa College of Engineering, after winning the toss and electing to bat, posted a formidable total of 125/1 in their allotted 10 overs. Riya Naik led the charge with a blistering 47 off 35 balls, while Vaishnavi Phadke contributed a solid 37 off 29 deliveries.
Chasing a daunting target, Parvatibai Chowgule College struggled to keep pace and were eventually restricted to 70/3 in 5.4 overs. Pranita (16 off 15) and Sanchita Sail (13 off 16) offered some resistance, but the required run rate proved too steep. Riya Naik further shone with the ball, taking 1/7, and Siddhi Kholkar claimed 1/12.
Riya Naik's all-round performance, with 47 runs and 1 wicket, earned her the player of the match award.
The second match saw Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Khandola, register a comprehensive 9-wicket victory over V.M. Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar. V.M. Salgaocar College, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, were restricted to a paltry 47/6 in their 10 overs. Sakshi Naik's 16 off 34 balls was the only notable contribution. Sanket Palkar (2/5) and Suhani Gaude (1/1) were the chief destroyers with the ball for Khandola.
Government College Khandola chased down the target with ease, reaching 50/1 in just 4.2 overs. Simran Naik's explosive 28 off 19 balls and Jiya Naik’s 9 off 7 guided them to victory. Reeya Shetye took the lone wicket for Salgaocar College, finishing with 1/15.
