Geno Dragons sail over Desserts n More Avengers by 8 wickets

Geno Dragons got the better of Desserts n More Avengers by 8 wickets in the 6th and Final Test to tie the Series 3-3 and win the 6 match Desserts n More Sarsangan Junior Cricket Test Series on Net Run Rate at Arlem Cricket Ground.

Put in to bat, Desserts n More Avengers put on a commanding 264-5 with Nityay Kuncoliekar hitting an unbeaten century 101 (67 balls, 9 x 4s) and contributions from Kaushal Churi (52), Paarth Kossambe (26), Rajat Dalal (21) and Kush Pai Raikar (16). Om Keny picked 2-26 while Avinash Sakhardande and Sahil Neurenkar picked a wicket each.

In reply, Geno Dragons amassed a huge 296-5 taking a crucial 32 run lead, thanks to Vismay Falgaonkar’s ton who made 112 (62 balls, 9 x 4s, 3 x 6s) and runs from Saish Hegde (67), Sanat Prabhudesai (30), Om Keny (21) and Atchut Naik Dalal (17). Nityay Kuncolienkar, Ayan Borkar and Kush Pai Raikar were successful in picking a wicket apiece.

Trailing by 32 runs, the DnM Avengers could only muster 121 in the 2nd essay with Nityay Kuncolienkar making 40 and Aditya Dalal 39. Rajat Dala with 17 tried his best but with 4 of the batters not able to open their account, the Avengers could only put up a target of 90 runs before the Dragons. Ishan Hodarkar’s 3-26 was a match winning spell and Pranav Nagarshenkar with 2-3 and Saish Hegde with 1-8 helped the Dragons.

The target was easily achieved by the Geno Dragons with Sanat Prabhudesai’s calculated unbeaten 48 and Atchut Naik Dalal’s 30 sealing the match as the Dragons posted 91-2. Aahesh Prabhugaonkar picked a consolation wicket. The win helped the Geno Dragons tie the series at 3-3 but with a superior Net Run Rate, the Geno Dragons were crowned the Champions of Desserts n more Sarsangan Junior cricket Series which saw participation from 40 young cricketers between 12-25 age group.

Saish Hegde was Man-of-the Match, Nityay Kuncolienkar was Best Batter and Ishan Hodarkar was the Best Bowler. Mrs. Pallavi Salgaocar, Dr. Sagar Salgaocar and their son Shivam graced the prize distribution function in the evening. Mrs. Pallavi congratulated the Saraswat Sports Sangh for unearthing new talent by providing a platform to the next generation of cricketers. Dr. Sagar Salgaocar appreciated the 2 innings format for the young cricketers which tests not just the skill but also the endurance and grooms the kids for the longer format of the game.

Sahil Neurenkar with 185 runs, 8 wickets and 14 dismissals was awarded Player of the Tournament, Sanat Prabhudesai with 421 runs was awarded the Best Batter, Aaheesh Prabhugaonkar collected Best Bowler trophy for picking 15 wickets, Vismay Falgaonkar with 11 dismissals was awarded best wicket keeper while Atchut Naik Dalal with 7 dismissals received the Best Fielder trophy.
