Ponda Footballers delivered a commanding 7-1 victory over Verna Cultural Association in the GFA Futsal tournament at the Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium, Navelim, on Sunday.
Ponda Footballers took control early, creating multiple chances in the opening stages. The breakthrough came in the 7th minute when Relino Carvalho opened the scoring for Ponda. Ashwell Paixoto doubled the lead shortly after, putting Verna on the back foot. Samuel Fernandes added a third in the 13th minute, while Ainsley Araujao further increased their lead.
Verna’s Samuel Rodriguez managed to pull one back in the 17th minute, reducing the deficit to 4-1. However, Ponda Footballers swiftly regained control. The second half saw continued pressure from Ponda, with Chrisvail Gonsalves sealing the victory with a final goal, making it 7-1.
