The third edition of the Chandrakant Karapurkar Trophy witnessed a day of dominant performances at the SK Ground, with Goa Sports Academy (GSA), Panaji, and Dempo Cricket Club (CC) registering comprehensive wins.
In the morning fixture, GSA demonstrated their fielding prowess after winning the toss and electing to bowl. Maruti's batting lineup struggled to gain momentum, with Shaheen Surlakar (59) providing the only significant resistance. Manish Yadav contributed a modest 23 runs. GSA's Snehith Panicker delivered a notable bowling performance, claiming three wickets and restricting Maruti's total.
Chasing a manageable target, GSA's batsmen displayed composure. Yash Anand remained unbeaten on 42, while Narayan Gawas (38) and Raunaq Pednekar (24) provided valuable support. GSA reached the target in 16 overs, securing a six-wicket victory. Smit Dalvi took the lone wicket for Maruti.
The afternoon match saw Dempo CC exhibit their batting strength. After Curchorem CC won the toss and chose to field, Dempo CC amassed a formidable 198/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Ninad Pawaskar's 67 and Yogesh Kauthankar's unbeaten 55 were the highlights of Dempo CC's innings. Curchorem CC's Mukunda K and Rahul Revankar each claimed two wickets.
Curchorem CC's response was lackluster, as their batting order collapsed, managing only 45 runs in 10.4 overs. Saish Dessai scored 10 runs. Dempo CC's bowling attack proved too strong, with Craig Dourado, Avinash Gawas, and Yogesh Kauthankar each taking three wickets, resulting in a resounding 153-run victory.
