Goa Yachting Association (GYA) under the aegis of Sports Authority of Goa (SAG), organised the Goa State Sailing Championship from the March 14 to 16, at Hawaii beach, Dona Paula.
Windsurfers competed in the Raceboard Category while other sailors participated in the Optimist category and the ILCA 4 Category. The Races were officiated by Shubam Suryavanshi and Arjun Singh.
Steady afternoon winds ensured smooth sailing but very tough competition in all the categories with leads changing after every race.
In the Windsurfing Category, Vinay Kulabkar from NBSC won the Gold while Rainer Dias won the Silver medal and Adarsh Chunekar won the Bronze medal.
In the Optimist Category Azurro Patrao won Gold ahead of Varun D’Silva who took Silver and Zephyr Patrao Bronze.
In the ILCA4 category the Navy Boys School Company sailors dominated the podium with Hriday Joshi clinching Gold, Vikram Singh Bhati Silver and Shivam the Bronze medal.
Umaji Chowgule, veteran sailor, was the chief guest at the Prize distribution ceremony and Cdr Riji Krishnan, OiC of NBSC was Guest of honour.
