In a move to boost football in Goa, Sports Minister Govind Gaude, Mayem MLA Premanand Shet, Cortalim MLA Anton Vaz, and Secretary of Sports Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, visited the Benfica Football Club campus in Portugal.
The delegation met with Miguel Reis, the Global Expansion Coordinator for Benfica International, to explore the potential for a world-class collaboration between the Department of Sports and the renowned football club.
During their visit, the Sports Minister extended an invitation to Benfica FC officials to visit Goa and discuss the possibility of scouting local talent. The proposed collaboration would focus on nurturing grassroots-level football players, with an emphasis on specialized coaching and infrastructure development.
