Guardian Angel Sports Club triumphed 5-4 in a thrilling tiebreaker over Betalbatim Sporting Club to secure their spot in the semi-finals of the 17th London Trophy Inter Village Football Tournament 2025, organized by Goa Velha Sports Club.
The match saw Guardian Angel take the lead in the 15th minute, with Godwin Fernandes striking past Betalbatim goalkeeper Joyrin Braganza.
Betalbatim came out strong in the second half and equalised in the 39th minute, thanks to Gladson Braganza's well-placed shot, making it 1-1.
During the match, Godwin Fernandes, Visiton Fernandes of Guardian Angel, and Betalbatim's Didymus Antao and Mohamad Sahil received yellow cards from referee Rohidas Bhomkar.
In the tie-breaker, Guardian Angel converted all four of their penalties through Fedrick Fernandes, Norman Dias, Cyril Dias, and Milroy Clement. Betalbatim responded with successful conversions from Alaric D'Cunha, Gladson Braganza, and Alison Rogtao, but fell short, ending the match 5-4 in favor of Guardian Angel.
Guardian Angel SC will now face the winners of the match between Chandor Club and Varca SC on April 5.
Cyril Dias of Guardian Angel was named Man of the Match and was presented the award by Remy Coutinho, former player and member of Goa Velha SC.
