Janta High School Mapusa finish with all-lose record

Janta High School, Mapusa, Goa lost both their league engagements in the Nehru boys U17 hockey tournament in Delhi.

In their second and last match of the three-team group, the Mapusa which was representing Goa by virtue of them being the Goa champions in the U17 tournament, lost to Manmohan Singh Academy, Shahbad, Haryana 9-0.

In their first match, Janta HS lost 5-0 to Mary Matha High School, Palakkad, Kerala.

Janta HS Mapusa team consists of some players who are part of the Khelo India hockey project.

Of the three schools which qualified, St Athony HS Monte De Guirim made it in two categories, U15 boys and U17 girls.

The Monte De Guirim boys lost one match and won one during their campaign at the start of this month in Delhi.

The girls team of the same school will make it to Delhi in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile there is no prize money for the ongoing tournament and the U15 boys tournament suffered the same fate held in the first week of October.

15 teams are competing in the initial group stage in five groups of three teams each and seven seeded teams will join for the second phase of the tournament.
