Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC from Assam edged out Sesa Football Academy 3-2 in a thrilling I-League 3 playoff match at Naihati Stadium, Kolkata, on Saturday.

The first half ended goalless, with both teams struggling to break through each other's defenses, leading to a midfield battle.

The match came to life in the second half when Karbi Anglong took the lead in the 48th minute, thanks to striker Jwngbla Brahama, who capitalised on a goalmouth scramble. Kevisanya Pesseyie extended their advantage in the 65th minute with a well-placed shot following a cross from Sherangthem Singh. Brahama's team sealed the victory in the 87th minute when Sharangthem Singh slotted home, making it 3-0.

Sesa Football Academy, however, mounted a spirited comeback in the dying minutes of the game. In the 90+4 minute, Slok Tiwari found the back of the net after receiving a pass from Kirtikesh Gadekar. Just a minute later, Clive Miranda reduced the deficit further with a header from a well-measured cross by Omkar Shet Gaonkar, but it wasn't enough to change the outcome.

Post-match, Sesa Football Academy's head coach Charles Dias expressed his disappointment. "I feel that we played poorly today. Karbi Anglong executed their game plan better and were the superior team," he stated. "Despite our late efforts, we couldn’t secure the points we needed."
