The King's School has decided to restart its King's Football League to raise funds to support treatment for Mario Soares, Former India International Football player. The school had recently contributed to his cancer treatment and has decided to host a three-day tourney to raise more funds for his treatment. The KFL is one of the school's many initiatives to raise funds for cancer patients.
The league is open to all school alumni, current students, parents, staff, and well-wishers over the age of 16.
The school has actively raised funds of over 1.5 crores and reached out to over 250 patients and NGOs supporting the cause of cancer.
The school hosts a dine and dance, ride to conquer cancer, football, and cricket league, pop-up bazaars, sale of edibles, micro greens, and compost, and many such events with its staff, students, alumni, and parents to raise funds and directly assist cancer patients. The initiatives are headed and curated by the school chairman Melvin Pereira and School Director Ligia Pereira. Contributions to cancer initiatives to aid cancer patients are exempt from Income Tax under section 80G. The school expects a huge turnout for the KFL which is in its 9th Edition.
