Mata Secondary School, Baina Vasco, were crowned champions of the Under-14 Boys Leather Ball Cricket Tournament organized by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at the Sankhali Municipality Ground.
In the final, they put on a dominant display to defeat North District champions Progress High School, Sankhali by 31 runs.
Batting first, Mata Secondary School posted an imposing total of 163/4 in 18 overs, thanks to a brilliant unbeaten knock of 134 runs by Farhan Shaikh.
For Progress High School, Arnav and Sparsh picked up 2 wickets each, while Joshua chipped in with 1 wicket.
In response, Progress High School put up a spirited fight but fell short, finishing at 133/9 in 18 overs.
Sparsh top-scored with 39 runs, followed by Joshua (26) and Arnav (19), but it wasn’t enough to chase down the target.
With this win, Mata Secondary School Baina Vasco lifted the coveted U14 inter-school cricket title.
