Parish Youth Nuvem got the better of Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club with a 7-6 win via a tie-breaker, securing their spot in the quarterfinals of the Simon Barreto Memorial Football Tournament, organised by Maina Sports Club at DYSA Ground, Curtorim, on Thursday.
The match was a fierce contest between two strong contenders, with both teams pushing hard on offense and defense. Parish Youth Nuvem came close to scoring when Niclau Colaco took a free kick just outside the box, but Macklin Coutinho's header narrowly missed the target. On the other side, Areal's Aran Endro delivered a through pass to Darryl Costa, whose shot hit the crossbar and went out of play.
Both teams showcased their skills but were unable to break the deadlock before the final whistle, sending the match to a penalty shootout to decide the winner. In the ensuing tiebreaker, Parish Youth Nuvem converted all their penalties, with goals from Niclau Colaco, Alvito Dias, Frazer Miranda, Shenoy Colaco, Cedar Colaco, Drawin Colaco, and Mackvino Colaco. For Sao Jose de Areal, Darryl Costa, Bresal Viegas, Tyson Carvalho, Aryan Carvalho, Stalen Oliveira, and Presden Viegas found the net, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win.
Tyson Carvalho of Sao Jose de Areal was named Man of the Match by Ismail Sayed for his standout performance.
