Cortalim Villagers SWSC edged out FC Goa 3-2 in an intense Goa Professional League clash at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Wednesday.
The match ended 3-2 in favour of Cortalim Villagers after a late push by FC Goa couldn't find an equaliser.
Cortalim Villagers took a commanding 3-1 lead in the second half, with goals from Sydney, Alister Fernandes, and Prathamesh Gaonkar. FC Goa managed to pull one back through Jovial Dias and a penalty from Lemmet Tangvah, but couldn't find the final equalizer.
The turning point of the game came when FC Goa's Mallikjan Kalegar received a second yellow card for a handball in the box, reducing his team to ten men. Cortalim Villagers capitalized on the advantage, converting the penalty and scoring two more goals to take a 3-1 lead.
Despite the late rally, FC Goa couldn't find the back of the net again, and the match ended with Cortalim Villagers securing a hard-fought 3-2 victory.
