Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) athletics coach Patrick Soares has been doing a near perfect job for the last few years in and around Margao, there has been no doubt about it.
Results speak for his dedication and hard work. The recently concluded State Athletics Championship - 2024 held at Athletics Stadium Bambolim once again proves that Patrick is way ahead when it comes to spotting and grooming talent.
Students who train under Patrick at the Rural Coaching Centre Fatorda of SAG won the Overall General Championship at the Goa Athletics Association athletics championship.
RCC Fatorda, with 60 points, clinched the Overall General Championship while RCC Bambolim with 52 points finished runners up.
In the Men section, joint winners were RCC Peddem and RCC Bambolim with 36 points, while RCC Fatorda with 29 points took the second spot.
In the women's section, RCC Fatorda, with 31 points topped while RCC Bambolim with 16 points finished runners up.
All together 600 athletes from all over Goa participated in U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16, U-18, U-20, Men & Women sections.
The cash prizes and trophies were awarded to all the winners in the hands of Rajsingh Rane, Sharendra Naik Secretary, Hubert, North District Association President and Shahdev Mandrekar Selection Committee in charge of Goan Athletics Association.
