MARGAO: Hosts Rebello Pandal Maina stormed into the semifinals of the 18th Rebello Pandal Football Tournament with a thrilling 8-5 win over C.C. Nuvem in a high-scoring encounter at the St. Rita Church Ground, Maina Curtorim, on Wednesday.
In what turned out to be one of the most entertaining matches of the tournament, both teams engaged in an intense battle for supremacy that kept the crowd on the edge of their seats throughout.
Anand was the star of the show for the hosts, netting a brilliant hat-trick in the 10th, 26th, and 55th minutes. Wellington and Edwin contributed with two goals each (15’, 30’ and 44’, 50’ respectively), while Joaquim added another in the 28th minute.
For CC Nuvem, Velrose also grabbed a hat-trick (30’, 48’, 58’), with Larson scoring in the 4th minute and Vedant in the 33rd minute to keep their side in contention.
Anand was named Man of the Match for his outstanding performance, with the award presented by football enthusiast Filip.
