Sathvik Ashok Kerkar emerged as the winner of the Yatharth Ayurveda Rapid Chess Tournament 2024, securing a perfect score of 7 out of 7 points. The event was organized by Ajinkya Chess Academy in association with the Ponda Taluka Chess Association and was held at the Shree Krishna Temple Hall in Curti, celebrating Goa Liberation Day.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Sagar Sakordekar, President of the Ponda Taluka Chess Association (PTCA), Dr. Pinak Prabhudessai of Yatharth Ayurveda, Vilas Palkar, Physical Education teacher at Vidhya Prabodhini Higher Secondary School, Porvorim, Anand Kurtikar, Incharge of Ajinkya Chess Academy, and Milind Gaude, Assistant Arbiter.
Three players finished with 6 points, with the tie-breaker deciding the rankings. Divesh Priyolkar claimed the runner-up spot, while Mayank Kurtikar took third place and Swayam Naik finished fourth.
The players ranked 5th to 12th were as follows: 5th: Anvay Borkar; 6th: Aryan Shirodkar; 7th: Nagesh Naik; 8th: Atharv Shirodkar; 9th: Supreet Priolkar; 10th: Gandharv Naik; 11th: Aarush Gaude; 12th: Nishesh Gaude
In age-category prizes, the Best U-13 awards went to: 1st: Vedant Priolkar; 2nd: Jatin Gaude
The Best U-11 awards were won by: 1st: Hardic K C; 2nd: Anay Chavan
The Best U-09 awards went to: 1st: Nityam Gaude; 2nd: Suven Sawant
For the Best U-07 category: 1st: Siaan Kerkar; 2nd: Tansh Gaude;
The Best Girl prize was awarded to: 1st: Nitya Kamat; 2nd: Arya Kamat Helekar
The Youngest Player prize went to Nirbhay Gaude.
The event was hosted with compering and a vote of thanks by Anand Kurtikar.
