SCC Lotoulim storm to semifinals with hard-fought 3-2 win


MARGAO: SCC Lotoulim secured a thrilling 3-2 win against United Boys of Ambaulim to advance to the semifinals of the 23rd Bro. Eulalio Vas Memorial Football Tournament, organized by Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda.

The match saw an eventful first half, with United Boys of Ambaulim taking the lead through a goal from Stephen Fernandes in the 20th minute. Lowrito Fernandes added another for UB Ambaulim in the 32nd minute, putting them ahead 2-0.

The turning point came early in the second half when a foul in the penalty area led to a penalty for SCC Lotoulim in the 51st minute. Flager Fernandes stepped up and converted the penalty, bringing the score to 2-1.

Just three minutes later, a miscommunication in the Ambaulim defense resulted in a free kick awarded to Lotoulim at the halfway line. Flager Fernandes took the kick, and the ball slipped past the goalkeeper, leveling the score at 2-2.

The decisive moment occurred in the 56th minute when Darren Gomes delivered a corner kick for Lotoulim. Austin Fernandes rose above the defenders to head the ball into the net, sealing the match with a stunning goal.

SCC Lotoulim will face Navelim Sporting Club in the semifinals on November 9. Flager Fernandes was named Man of the Match by Santan Colaco, a member of Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda.
