Sporting Clube de Goa secured a 1-0 victory over Chanmari FC (CFC) in the AIFF I-League 2 fixture at Bambolim Athletics Stadium on Wednesday.
Sporting Clube de Goa’s Biswa Darjee delivered a decisive goal in the closing moments, securing a vital victory for the team and extending their winning momentum, while Chanmari FC were dealt their second defeat of the season.
Sporting lined up with Abhimanyu Singh in goal, supported by defenders Kunal Kundaikar, Sairuat Kima, Joyner Lourenco and Myron Fernandes. The midfield Naocha Singh, Samuel Costa, Dattaraj Gaonkar, Sushil Meitei dictating play while Doyal Alves and Ronaldo Oliveira led the attack. The substitutes’ bench featured Rana (GK), Dhiraj, Biswa, Joyson G, HP, Givson, Selwyn, Ivon and Semboi.
While Chanmari FC, with 19 points, posed a threat on the counter, Sporting Clube de Goa's defense remained resolute, with key players making crucial interceptions to neutralize their opponents' attacks. With the win, Sporting Clube de Goa moved up to 15 points in the standings.
The first half saw both teams battling fiercely for control, with each side creating chances but unable to break the deadlock. The game remained intense as both teams fought hard to gain the upper hand. In the second half, Biswa Darjee scored a late header in the 92nd minute, following a perfectly delivered cross from Myron, securing the victory for Sporting Clube de Goa.
Sporting Clube de Goa, currently standing in third position in the league, will face their next match on March 17 against KLSA at the Khuman Lampak Stadium in Manipur.
