MARGAO: United Club of Benaulim secured a hard-fought victory over Dicarpale Sports Club, winning 5-4 in a penalty shootout to advance to the semifinals of the All Goa Navelim Villagers Union Trophy, organized by Navelim Villagers Union, at the Rosary Church Ground in Navelim.
Dicarpale SC took the lead in the 18th minute through a goal from William Niasso, maintaining a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.
After the break, United Club of Benaulim equalized in the 48th minute with a goal from Victor Fernandes, setting the stage for a tense penalty shootout.
In the ensuing shootout, United Club converted four of their five penalties, with Osbourne Fernandes, Faizel Bepari, Alejo Fernandes, and Treulon Fernandes all finding the back of the net. Dicarpale SC responded with successful conversions from William Niasso, Aeron Figueiredo, and Veliston Colaco, but it was not enough as United Club triumphed 5-4 to seal their place in the semifinals.
