Vasco Veterans kept their cool when it mattered the most to edge past Ilhas Veterans 5-3 via the tie-breaker, to emerge champions at the recently-held All Goa veterans football tournament, organised by Mix Friends of Santa Cruz, at Santa Cruz ground.
The teams were tied goalless at the end of regulation time.
In the tie-breaker, Vasco Veterans converted their penalties through Shaikh Niaze, Nelson, Agostinho, Roque and Presley, while only Nevil Araujo, Marcelino Rosario and Paixao were on target for Ilhas Veterans.
The winners received a cash prize of Rs 30,000 while the runners up had to settle for Rs 20,000.
The following individual prizes were awarded: First scorer of the final: Shaikh Niaze (Vasco), last touch: Nagesh (Ilhas), best defender: Pascoal (Ilhas), best goalkeeper: Luis (Vasco), best player of the tournament: Presley Pereira (Vasco).
