In a high-energy clash at the MCC Ferdinand Coelho Memorial VMCL 3 T-20 Tournament, held at the MCC Ground in Margao, the VMCL Scorpions delivered a clinical performance to outplay the VMCL Blasters, registering a dominant 91-run victory under the lights on April 23. With this third win, the Scorpions continued their unbeaten run.
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, the Scorpions posted a competitive total of 155/9 in 20 overs. Jude Cardozo provided a steady start with a composed 29-run knock, while Iftikar Agha (32) and Sandeep Dalal (20) added valuable middle-order runs. However, it was Balkrishna Hodarkar who stood out with the ball for the Blasters, grabbing five wickets in his four-over spell, including two dismissals in the final over to restrict the Scorpions’ scoring surge.
The chase turned into a nightmare for the Blasters as their batting order crumbled under pressure. They were bowled out for just 64 in 11.3 overs, with only Sudeep Narayan (17) and Sanjay Netravalkar (12) offering brief resistance. The Scorpions’ bowlers shared the spoils, with Prakash Kunde and Dr. Satyesh Kamat claiming two wickets each. Sudesh Rane and Rasik Pai Khot also made their mark, bagging crucial breakthroughs at key moments.
The Scorpions’ sharp fielding effort, including two stumpings by Jude Cardozo, added to the Blasters’ woes. With this emphatic win, the VMCL Scorpions not only secured two points but also significantly boosted their net run rate, stamping their authority on the tournament.
