Head Coach Samir Naik expressed his frustration after his team’s unexpected defeat to Sporting Club Bengaluru in Round 4 of the I-League.
Naik said, "It's a huge disappointment to lose to Sporting Club Bengaluru, especially since we allowed them to control the game. We struggled with intensity, precise passing, and our ability to quickly regain possession."
He added, "We needed to be more aggressive and determined in controlling the ball. Despite creating several opportunities, we failed to convert them into goals."
Naik also pointed out, "Our lack of coordination and discipline led to conceding two goals. We simply weren’t sharp enough."
Reflecting on the team's performance, Naik noted, "We lacked that final touch and couldn’t link up effectively with our wingers. After a strong start to the season, this result is a blow to our campaign. We were hoping for a win, but we have no one to blame but ourselves. We didn’t stick to our game plan or perform at the level required to secure a victory."
Despite the loss, Naik remained supportive of his players, saying, "I’m disappointed with the result, but not with the boys. They gave everything and deserved more. They competed well against the hosts and were fitter than them. Unfortunately, lapses in concentration led to us conceding at the end."
"Football is cruel. If you don’t take your chances, the opponents will punish you. We can’t afford to score twice and then concede three goals. But I’m still incredibly proud of the boys," he concluded.
