MARGAO: Youth Club of Shiroda booked their place in the semifinals of the 33rd Arlem Rolling Trophy Inter-Village Football Tournament with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Curtorim Gymkhana at the Raia Panchayat ground on Friday.
Shiroda got off to a flying start, scoring two quick goals through Roston Vaz in the 12th minute and Preston Rego in the 15th minute. Curtorim Gymkhana tried to mount a comeback in the second half and managed to pull one back in the 59th minute through Versly Paes, but it wasn’t enough to stop Shiroda from advancing.
The Man of the Match award was presented to a Youth Club of Shiroda player by Joel Colaco.
Versly Paes stood out as Curtorim’s top performer with his lone goal.
