Succorina Coutinho has been re-elected as the Chairperson of the 12-member Cuncolim Municipal Council. She defeated former chairperson Polita Carneiro by 8-3 votes in a straight contest.

Presiding Officer Ajit Panchwadkar declared Succorina as the winner after the counting of votes.
Taking charge of office after a brief gap, after she had quit as per an understanding, Succorina promised to complete all pending works and take up new projects by taking all the councilors into confidence.
“There are some ongoing works and works which are pending. We will try to see that the ongoing works are completed and the civic body takes up the pending ones,” she told the media after her election.
She made it clear that all the 12 councilors will be taken into confidence along with the Cuncolim MLA Clafacio Dias to take the developmental work forward. “We will implement the development works by working together as a team,” she said.
Asked to outline her agenda on the Covid front, Succorina said the Cuncolim municipal area recorded a number cases, which have started coming down. “The council had initiated a host of measures to stop the spread of Covid in the town by even keeping the market shut for around a week,” she added. She promised to take all precautionary measures to check the spread of the disease.
