The first series of ‘Colours of Resilience’, an event under the Purplefest initiative, was launched amidst overwhelming applause at Taj Cidade de Goa Heritage at Dona Paula. Organised by the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, the event marked a new chapter in celebrating the transformative power of art while uplifting the lives of Persons with Disabilities in Goa. ‘Colours of Resilience’ conceptualised by the celebrated Goan artist, poet and disability advocate Frederika Menezesis the first of its kind, dedicated to showcasing the extraordinary synergy between art and resilience.

The event commenced with a Preview Fellowship evening in the presence of esteemed guests, including Guruprasad Pawaskar, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, and world-renowned Estonian artist Tauno Kangro. Joining them were celebrated artist Nidhi Sharma, Mumbai-based artist Manoj Das, and Fredericka Menezes herself, each lending their unique artistic perspectives to this inspiring initiative.

Elevating the evening's ambiance was a soulful performance by Santoor virtuoso and music healer Nawab Khan, a 9th-generation musician from Rajasthan, whose melodies mesmerised the audience and underscored the healing essence of art.

Speaking at the event, Guruprasad Pawaskar, State Commissioner for Persons with disabilities remarked, “Colours of Resilience is a testament to the unyielding spirit and creativity of Persons with Disabilities. This initiative not only showcases their talent but also fosters a society that values diversity and inclusion.”

The exhibition, featuring remarkable artworks that echo the spirit of resilience and inclusion, will remain open to the public on November 17 from 10 am to 8 pm.
