Today, Hero MotoCorp, the global leader in motorcycle and scooter production, unveiled the much-awaited Karizma XMR model. Following its commitment to create, collaborate, and inspire, the recently introduced Karizma XMR is a product of a distinctive partnership between the accomplished engineers at Hero’s cutting-edge Center for Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur, and the Hero Tech Centre Germany (TCG) located near Munich. In line with current trends, this bike comes equipped with all the features that will attract the younger generation. We took the Karizma XMR for a ride in Gurugram, specifically on the Gurugram-Faridabad highway, to provide you with an in-depth road test review.
Design
The bike boasts a sleek Aero-Layered design with advanced LED headlights that Hero claims are the best in their class. They offer intelligent lighting and feature an X-shaped daytime running light (DRL).
The windshield is adjustable based on height, a first in this category. The mirrors are thoughtfully positioned, not directly on the fairing, and they can be adjusted to fit well. The modern design sets a new trend and makes the bike stand out. It’s small yet mature and comfy, great for daily rides. The sleek Aero-Layered design, full fairing, and clever layout make it easy to handle, while also reducing heat on the rider’s contact points for a more comfortable experience. The bike has a 300mm front disc for sporty performance and a 230mm rear disc. The front tire is 180mm wide, while the rear tire is broader at 140mm. The bike comes with MRF Zapper S tires.
Suspension
At the back, there’s a 6-step adjustable mono-shock suspension with pre-load adjustment. In the front, you’ll find regular telescopic forks; the more advanced USD forks like those seen on some Pulsar models are not present here.
Instrument cluster
The Karizma XMR features a unique inverted LCD speedometer display that provides a clear view of navigation and various data. It offers 39 functions including smartphone connectivity for call/SMS alerts, first-of-its-kind turn-by-turn navigation, battery status, range, gear indicator, shift advice, ambient light sensor, gear shift, low fuel warning, trip meter, and more.
Engine
The brand-new 210cc liquid-cooled DOHC 4-valve engine in the Karizma XMR offers exceptional performance. It produces 25.5PS of power at 9250 rpm and a peak torque of 20.4 Nm at 7250 rpm. The bike accelerates from 0 to 60 in just 3.8 seconds. This engine ensures a smooth ride, whether in the city or on long highway journeys.
The DOHC setup and DLC-coated finger cam followers contribute to better high-end performance and engine durability. The engine also has an extended oil replacement interval of 12,000 km. The 6-speed gearbox, combined with the Slip and Assist clutch system, minimizes skidding and rear wheel locking during rapid downshifts.
Performance
Weighing 157 kg, the Hero Karizma is designed for a well-balanced ride. This weight distribution ensures stability on the road, whether cruising on the highway or navigating through city traffic. The bike can handle traffic conditions well; we could ride at 20 km/h in third gear. The 15.3-liter fuel tank capacity allows for longer journeys without frequent refueling.
For those who enjoy riding, this bike is ideal. The comfortable seat height accommodates riders of various heights. The suspension aims to provide a balanced and comfortable ride, absorbing road bumps.
Verdict
The new Hero Karizma XMR will rival models such as the Bajaj Pulsar RS200, Suzuki Gixxer SF 250, and Yamaha R15. With its strong engine, impressive features, and commitment to exceptional performance, the Hero Karizma aims to establish itself as a strong contender for the top spot in its segment.
