We are light within & around

We are light within & around

Festivals invite us to share this light with others, reaching out in kindness and generosity. Every festival is truly beautified by the presence of light. Whether it’s the shimmering diyas of Diwali, the warm glow of Christmas lights or the countless other celebrations, light always plays a central role.

But this light is not just about decorations or tradition; it represents something far deeper, namely that the genuine meaning of celebration is not in the decorations or festivities but in the goodness we convey.

We are people of light endowed with it from the Divine. We come in a variety of colours, shapes and forms just as bulbs do.

Each of us has our own unique qualities—different backgrounds, appearances, talents—but we’re all here to share one essential light. This light we emit reflects our potential, shining according to our individual capacity.

And the source of that light, the filament inside each of us, is our shared humanity. It represents kindness, warmth and love—qualities that when shared brighten the lives of others. It’s what connects us on a deeper level, reminding us that no matter how different we may appear, we all hold the same potential to shine.

Of late, we are navigating through challenging times filled with prejudices, misunderstandings, backbiting and slander. These negative forces have a way of dimming the glow of light within us and amongst communities, making it harder to see the goodness in ourselves and one another.

When we allow these shadows to take hold, they cloud our inner light and weaken the very qualities that bring us together. Trust erodes, unity fades and the warmth of connection begins to cool.

Let us avoid biases, leave behind false ideologies and strive to seek the right perspective. Like bulbs connected to a common source of power, we are all connected to the Divine, which fuels our light and purpose.

And just as a series of bulbs together can light up a whole space, when we come together as individuals, each contributing our own light, we have the power to illuminate the nation with hope, warmth, and unity.

As Dr APJ Abdul Kalam wisely stated, “When there is harmony among people, there will be order in the nation.”

Our attitude, actions and the way we treat each other speak louder than words. Every act of goodness, every compassionate word and every thoughtful gesture are like beams of light that shine into the lives of others.

When we live with integrity, love, and respect, we not only honour the divine light we’ve received but also create a nation that is brighter and more beautiful for everyone.
