With an ambitious target of winning 30 seats at the 2027 Goa Assembly elections, the BJP on Saturday launched its poll preparations, calling on party workers to begin groundwork across the State under the slogan “Chala, Utha, Sajj Vha” (Come, Rise, Be Ready).
The call was given during the BJP Goa state executive meeting, where party leaders urged workers to work in a coordinated manner to strengthen the organisation and expand the party’s reach ahead of the next Assembly polls.
A total of 197 of the 209 state executive members attended the gathering, which also saw the presence of Union Minister L Murugan, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Union Minister of State Shripad Naik, Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade and other senior office-bearers.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting, BJP Goa president Damu Naik said that to achieve the target, special responsibilities are assigned to mandal and booth-level office-bearers, with an emphasis on strengthening the organisation at the grassroots.
“Party workers responded positively to the proposal of securing 30 seats in the next Assembly election. The karyakartas are asked to take the Centre’s and State government’s welfare schemes as well as development initiatives directly to the people and ensure beneficiaries are aware of the programmes available to them,” he said.
The meeting also passed a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing a significant tenure in office. Party leaders highlighted the country's development under his leadership and urged workers to listen to and promote the messages conveyed through the Prime Minister’s “Mann Ki Baat” programme.
Earlier, speaking at the meeting, Murugan outlined the party’s development roadmap for Goa and called on the karyakartas to ensure that Central government schemes effectively reach the people while further strengthening the organisation.
He also asserted that there was no anti-incumbency sentiment against the BJP government in Goa. Expressing confidence in the party’s electoral prospects, he said the BJP would retain power with a clear majority in the State, as it had done in Gujarat and several other states.
