Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Friday declined to comment on Goa’s politics or the party’s apparent softening on forging alliances with Opposition parties, saying the matter would be handled by the State leadership.
“All these issues will be handled by the Goa team. We will have another press conference tomorrow,” Kejriwal said when asked about AAP’s stand on possible electoral tie-ups with the Congress and other Opposition parties in Goa.
Alleges cover-up in Ayodhya case
Speaking at a press conference at the International Centre in Dona Paula, Kejriwal, flanked by AAP Goa in-charge Atishi, State president Valmiki Naik and other leaders, accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of shielding those allegedly involved in the “chanda-chori” at the Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
He claimed Modi had personally constituted the temple trust and selected its members, questioning whether the Prime Minister could have been unaware of alleged irregularities involving land deals, construction commissions and theft of offerings.
Kejriwal alleged that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed only after the controversy gained national attention and said an SIT without an FIR was illegal. He further claimed that minor arrests were made to divert attention while those responsible escaped scrutiny.
He cited alleged land deals involving sharp price increases before sales to the temple trust and claimed Intelligence Bureau reports had flagged irregularities, but no action was taken. He alleged that the faith of millions of devotees had been betrayed and demanded accountability.
