The proposal, submitted to the government and forwarded by the Office of the Chief Minister to the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority on June 1, for feasibility assessment, seeks consideration of the company's Vinyl and FRP (Fibre Reinforced Polymer) composite sheet piling system for use in coastal and riverbank protection projects across Goa.
The company has sought consideration of its technology for use in a range of coastal and water infrastructure projects, including sea erosion protection walls, coastal and riverbank stabilisation, flood protection barriers, marina and waterfront development, lake retaining walls, riverfront beautification and soil conservation works.
Bluebell Biztech LLP stated that it is associated through a joint venture with EverLast Synthetic Products (ESP), USA, a manufacturer of Vinyl and FRP composite sheet piling systems used in marine infrastructure projects worldwide.
In its proposal, the company claimed that the composite sheet piling system offers a corrosion-resistant and environmentally sustainable alternative to conventional reinforced cement concrete (RCC) and steel seawalls. The technology is stated to have a design life of up to 50 years and is designed to withstand saline and marine environments with minimal maintenance.
The firm has also highlighted advantages such as faster installation, lower lifecycle costs and improved structural durability compared to conventional coastal protection structures.
According to the proposal, ESP has executed more than 10,000 marine infrastructure installations globally. The company further informed the government that a pilot project has already been undertaken with the Department of Water Resources.
Bluebell Biztech has also expressed interest in establishing manufacturing facilities in India under the Centre's "Make in India" initiative.
As part of the proposal, the company has offered to make technical presentations to government officials and provide case studies, lifecycle cost analyses and references from pilot projects to support evaluation of the technology.
“The proposal is presently under examination by the state government for assessing its feasibility and potential application in Goa's coastal protection infrastructure. The GCZMA has asked the agency to take it up with the Environment department,” official said.
